Consultation Meeting On Township Selection For CDD Project In Mon State

Consultation meeting on Township selection for third year CDD Project in Mon State was held at the State Hall of Mawlamyien on 17 Dec 2014. The project is implemented by the Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Rural Development and funded by the World Bank.

U Ohn Myint (Chief Minister of Mon State), U Myint Oo (Deputy Director General of Department of Rural Development), representatives from the World Bank and responsible officers from Department of Rural Development (Head office), responsible officers from relevant government departments of Mon State, Congress Representatives, responsible officers from Non-Government Organizations, Political Parties, responsible officers from Community Based Organizations, media and other invitees were in attendances. (About 330 total attendances to the meeting).

At the meeting, U Ohn Myint (Chief Minister of Mon State) gave a welcome speech, U Myint Oo (Deputy Director General for the Department of Rural Development) and Mrs. Nodoka Hasegawa (Social Development Specialist) (JPO) from the World Bank gave an introduction speech. After that, U Hla Khaing (Deputy Director for the Department of Rural Development) explained an overview of the project and criteria set for township selection. After that, attendees raised the queries, made discussion in 10 groups to select townships, explained the reasons of selecting the township by a representative of each group, calculated the scores for the selected townships and submitted the results.

According to the selection by the attendees, the townships which are eligible to benefit from projects are listed below from high priority to low priority.

(1) First priority – Chaung Sone Township

(2) Second priority – Bee Lin Township

(3) Third priority – Paung Township

(4) Forth priority – Kyaikmayaw Townshiop

(5) Fifth priority – Yay Township
